AGOCO revives wells, NOC reports rise in Libyan oil output

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reports that technical teams from the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) have successfully completed crucial repairs, leading to the reactivation of nine previously closed wells in the As Sidra Oil Field.

These wells are estimated to contribute approximately 4,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the field's production.

Al-Sweihli wins Libya Volleyball Cup and takes home a historic treble

Al-Sweihli has been crowned champion of the Libyan Volleyball Cup in the 2023-2024 season for the fifth time in its history, after defeating Al-Nasr by three games to zero.

In the first set of the match that was held on Thursday, Al-Sweihli led with a score of (25-20) and then ended the second set with a score of (25-21), while the Al-Nasr team withdrew in the third set.

This win came three days after Al-Sweihli club won the Libyan Volleyball League for the 12th time in its history, after defeating Al-Nasr as well, with a score of three games to one.

EU ambassador calls for protecting Libyan cultural heritage from looting and smuggling

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, called for the need to protect Libyan cultural heritage from plunder, trafficking and vandalism, noting that the heritage represents “rich and shared Mediterranean roots."

The EU Ambassador opened Sunday in Tripoli an international conference on protecting the Libyan cultural heritage, in which 20 experts from five European countries, archaeological missions and representatives of law enforcement agencies from Italy participated, in cooperation with the Department of Antiquities and the Tourist Police of the Ministry of the Interior.

National "Reading Challenge" takes off, Souk Al-Jumaa hosts first stage

The Ministry of Education launched the first phase of the "Reading Challenge" competition on Sunday at the Abdullah bin Masoud School under the supervision of the Education Directorate in Souk Al-Jumaa.

Minister of Education Musa Al-Maqreif announced in his address at the opening ceremony that the ministry intends to roll out a national version of the initiative, distributing libraries to 900 educational institutions in the near future.

Libya adopts new mental health strategy with WHO support

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Libya's Ministry of Health have jointly announced the approval of the National Mental Health Strategy 2024-2030.

Following a two-day workshop in Misrata, which brought together mental health experts from across Libya and the WHO, the strategy aims to address pressing mental health challenges by focusing on prevention, early detection, treatment, and ongoing monitoring of mental illnesses.

The initiative also seeks to establish a comprehensive healthcare system, ensuring all citizens receive high-quality mental health services and support.
