The European Union (EU) signed an agreement with Egypt on Sunday for the first phase of a border management program worth 80 million euros, at a time when Egyptian migration to Europe through Libya is increasing, according to a statement by the EU Mission in Cairo.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, met Sunday with the special envoy of the French President to Libya, Paul Soler, and French ambassador, Mostafa Mihraje, who reaffirmed France's continued support for Libya until it reaches the stage of comprehensive stability by electing a president who can lead the country to security.
The Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) Farhat Bengdara said he had agreed with Italian oil company Eni and United Kingdom's company British Petroleum (BP) to start drilling and production of natural gas in the Mediterranean, a field that is similar to Dahr field in Egypt but with larger reserves.
The Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamal Rezik, announced in a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Trade in the Libyan Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Huweij, the activation of the role of the businessmen council between the two countries.

The Public Prosecutor has ordered former foreign minister Mohamed Siyala to be taken into custody pending investigations in a case involving the improper exercise of public service during his term of office that led to the squandering of over 4.5 million US dollars.
Siyala served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya in the internationally-backed Government of National Accord from 2016 to 2021.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant-General Mohammed Al-Haddad, and his accompanying delegation, participated in the 14th meeting of the chiefs of staff of the armies of the European-Arab-Maghreb 5+5 Defense Initiative, which was held in Rabat, Morocco on last Thursday.
The initiative includes the five Maghreb countries: Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya and Mauritania, in addition to five European countries: France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Malta.
